Sara Marsala, 48, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at her home with her family by her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at St. John's Catholic Church, 600 Columbus Street, Benton Harbor, officiated by Father William Jacobs, Jr. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to SS John & Bernard Parish or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to sign the Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Sara was born on November 6, 1963 to Angelo and Maria (Bonaccorso) Marsala in Benton Harbor. She graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic High School in 1982. She was an accomplished athlete and avid golfer, achieving a hole-in-one at Paw Paw Lake Golf Course. She was a dedicated employee working as a processing clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Kalamazoo. She was a devoted aunt who showered her nieces with unending love.

She is survived by two sisters, Anna (Gabriel) Krajecki and Josephine (Gregory) Koziuk both of Benton Harbor, nieces, Angela Seaman, Nina, Paige, and Sophie Koziuk, and step-nieces, Angela & Danielle Strong.
