Lenore “Muzz” Shafer 80, of Stevensville passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 Delaware, Benton Harbor with Fr. William Jacobs Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, May 16, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Lions Club. Those wishing to share a memory online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Lenore was born June 23, 1930 in Benton Harbor, MI to Joseph & Gladys (Rickers) Roloff. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1948. On April 22, 1950 she married Albert Shafer in St. Joseph. Lenore always looked for a reason to have all the family for dinner. She enjoyed being a terrific homemaker, baking pies, making special candy at Christmas time, knitting, playing cards with family, attending grandchildren's sporting and musical events and playing mahjongg. She laughed often and enjoyed life, family and friends.

Lenore is survived by her husband Albert Shafer of Stevensville; children: Kathy (Wayne) Walden of St. Joseph, Gary (Debra) Shafer of St. Joseph, Albert “Bud” (Cheri) Shafer of Stevensville, Charles (Janet) Shafer of Raleigh, NC., Craig (Teri) Shafer of Goshen, IN., and Joseph (Karen) Shafer of Bangor; twenty grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers Robert (Marilee) Roloff of Benton Harbor and William (Shirley) Roloff of Charlevoix, MI; sister Nancy (Robert) Cooley of St. Joseph; brother-in-law Richard (Liz) Pomeroy of Traverse City, MI. Lenore was preceded in death by her parents and sister Joanne Pomeroy.
