Benjamin Scott Hartman, 26, of Stevensville, entered into
Life Eternal with his Savior on Sunday, June 1, 2003, as a
result of a scuba diving mishap in Findlay, Ohio.


A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00pm,
Thursday, June 5, at the Stevensville United Methodist
Church with Rev. Eugene Lewis officiating. Visitation will be
Wednesday, June 4, from 4-8pm, at Starks & Menchinger
Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials
may be made to the Lincoln Township Fire Department or
Animal Aid, P.O. Box 407, St. Joseph, MI 49085. Friends
wishing to share a memory or sign the family guest book on

Ben was born on September 24, 1976, in Saginaw, Michigan.
He attended St. Matthew?s and Good Shepherd Lutheran
schools as well as Michigan Lutheran High School. Ben
worked as a plumber for Town and Country Plumbing
Service. He also served as a volunteer fireman for the Lincoln
Township Fire Department. Ben was an avid outdoorsman,
and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and
scuba diving along with always helping others.


Ben is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (Shadle) Hartman,
whom he married on July 29, 2000, in Stevensville; his
parents, Warren and Lois (Scheele) Hartman; father and
mother-in-law, Larry and Joan Shadle; sisters ? Jennifer
(Hartman) Scribner of Sister Lakes, Nicole Hartman of
Libertyville, Illinois, Angela (Hartman) Rimmert of Oakfield,
Wisconsin, and Rebecca Hartman of Libertyville, Illinois;
sister-in-law, Nancy (Shadle) Batch of Muskegon;
Brothers-in-law ? Todd Scribner, Jason Rimmert and Terry
Batch; grandfather, Warren Hartman of Cassopolis;
grandmother, Viola Scheele of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; nieces
? Christina, Meghan and Amber Scribner, Ashley Rimmert
and Laura Batch; nephews - Andrew Scribner, Brodie
Rimmert and Adam Batch; and also many aunts, uncles and
cousins.


Ben touched the lives of many people in his brief time on
Earth. His presence among us will be deeply missed.
